Spitfire: Blade Runner 7" cover. Spitfire - Blade Runner, 7", Minotauro Records, 1984/2009

It often makes me somewhat puzzled to hear people comment on 80’s metal and say there only was, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and maybe also Whitesnake or Motley Crüe. Cuz what about bands as great as Italy’s Spitfire? The time of this 7”’s release (1984) was simply the golden age for classic metal and the NWOBHM greats had just released some of their best work. SPITFIRE took their inspiration from that UK scene and while they didn’t reach the height of, say, Satan “Kiss Of Death” or Sweet Savage “Take No Prisoners”, they were still damn great. Having been out of print for a long time, Minotauro records has now re-released this 7” and I would recommend anyone into “trve metal” to check it out. Reviewed by Martin B. |
