In focus: New movie magazines

There's a new issue out of Tim Lucas' legendary magazine. I've taken this directly from the introduction on the webpage, as it sums up what it's all about: Horror, science fiction, mystery, film noir, animation, exploitation, sleaze, martial arts, fantasy from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to the Bond series, even the most dreamlike examples of European and Asian art and action cinema. If it stands outside the mainstream, if it takes you outside the bounds of your own imagination, it's VIDEO WATCHDOG material!. There's no doubt about it: This is a must-have magazine.

Another favourite of mine is the, also US-based, Shock Cinema, which has been spewing out interviews and reviews of the more obscure kind since start 1990s. Own description taken from the zine editor himself: Shock Cinema Magazine is an essential guide for any fan of bizarre films and videos, and each issue is crammed with movie reviews, in-depth interviews and original poster art. Plus, Shock Cinema covers everything a self-respecting film-junkie could possibly desire -- from Cult Movies and Arthouse Oddities, to old fashioned Grindhouse Swill and Underground Obscurities. A new issue was out 24/11/10 - go grab it while it's hot!
